<p>PURPOSE:To execute the color display high in display quality by placing a line electrode or a row electrode so as to pass through between short sides of adjacent polygonal picture element electrodes, and connecting in series the line electrode or the row electrode, a two-terminal switching element and the picture element electrode between the short sides. CONSTITUTION:A line electrode 40 or a row electrode 50 is placed so as to pass through at least between short sides 21 of adjacent polygonal picture element electrodes 20, and between the short sides 21, the line electrode 40 or the row electrode 50, a two-terminal switching element 30 and the picture element electrode 20 are connected in series. Accordingly, while selecting freely a shape of the picture element electrode 20, an arrangement space of the line electrode 40 or the row electrode 50 placed in an adjacent area of the picture element electrode 20 can be made small enough, and a picture element electrode area can be taken large by that portion. In such a way, the numerical aperture is high and the lightness of a color display can be made high, and also, the display quality is improved.</p> |
