PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform refracting excavation with no need for making an intermediate shaft by turnably providing a nearly hemispherical shape of cutter frame having a cutter, on the front part of a shield machine. CONSTITUTION:A nearly hemispherical shape of cutter frame 3 having a cutter is provided turnably around the shield center line and the crossing center line crossing through a rectangular cross section of the shield, on a schield machine at the front part. Reaching to a scheduled position for refraction, the machine turns and refracts the cutter frame together with a cover plate, and after finishing refraction, excavates and proceeds in new shield direction as cutting with the cutter frame on leaving the cover plate behind. Refracting excavation is possible, thereby, with no need for the intermediate shaft, while a shield machine and a shield working method capable of making a refraction angle large is obtained. |
