PURPOSE:To recognize communication status in a line network in detail by adding and recording an address and passing time at the time of passing a relay station or an opposite station sequentially on a test packet 3, and storing recorded data in a disk device. CONSTITUTION:An outgoing party sends the test packet 10 from a station A 11 at every constant time. At this time, packet classification (a), an outgoing station address (b), an opposite station address (c), and outgoing station outgoing time (d) are added, and the packet is issued as the test packet 19a. When the test packet 19a arrives at a station E 15, the address (e) of the station E 15 and communication time (f) are added on the test packet, then, it is changed to the test packet 19a, and is sent to a station F 16 that is the opposite station. When it arrives at the station F 16, the address (g) of the station F 16 and the data of passing time (h) are added on the test packet 19 similarly, then, it is changed to the test packet 19c, and is sent to the relay station E 15. Thus, all data in the test packet 19 returned to the station A 11 that is an outgoing station are stored in the disk device 18.
