PURPOSE: To obtain a stable extremely small electrode by forming an insulating layer on a wire rod or a fiber of a noble metal or carbon of a prescribed organic compound in which a phenylene group is crosslinked with a specific alkylene group. CONSTITUTION: An insulating layer 2 is formed on a wire rod or fiber 1 of a noble metal or carbon. The layer 2 is formed by precipitating a polymer layer with an anode by electrochemically polymerizing a phenol having an unsaturated aliphatic group having two to ten C atoms at the ortho-position and a monomer containing thiophenol and/or aniline in an electrolytic bath containing an alkaline medium with an aqueous amine solution, an aqueous ammonia solution, or a mixture of both aqueous solutions and an adhesive auxiliary and successively crosslinking the polymer layer with an insulating layer having a chemical resistance. Since the obtained insulating layer 2 is composed of poly-4-oxyphenylene, poly-4-thiophenylene, and poly-4-aniline in which phenylene groups are crosslinked through an alkylene group having two to ten C atoms at the ortho-position, the layer 2 can excellent uniformly coat a core body 1 without cracking. |
