PURPOSE: To control nematodes of the genera Bursaphalenchus, Criconemella, Ditylenchus, etc., by bringing the nematodes into contact with a toxin produced by a Bacillus thuringiensis gene product clone pMYC-383. CONSTITUTION: Nematodes of the genera Bursaphalenchus, Criconemella, Ditylenchus, Helicotylenchus, etc., are brought into contact with a toxin produced by a Bacillus thuringiensis gene product clone pMYC 383 and controlled. The toxic gene product is genetically integrated into a plant or other microorganisms capable of occupying a plant region of the plant and surviving and proliferating therein and the plant parasitic nematodes are thereby controlled. The nematodes are controlled by administering the Bacillus thuringiensis gene product clone pMYC-383 to an animal host parasitized with the nematodes. |
