A porous mould is produced in stages, for moulding ceramic slips. Holders are positioned at desired distance from a top rigid frame member, flexible filaments are attached to the holders and passed through the top frame at least at one end, the moulding material is then poured into the space between the top frame and a lower member which together form a porous mould. The top frame and holders are removed from this mould when the material has set, the holders being separated from the flexible filaments are filled with a synthetic resin and, when this resin has cured, the filaments are removed so as to form ducts in the porous mould.
