PURPOSE: To prevent a superconducting magnet coil from being damaged, by forming a superconducting wire of a plurality of layers, and putting one conductive foil between laminated layers so that the foil can wrap the inner layer, and then., forming a conductive loop by joining the internal ends of the foil to each other. CONSTITUTION: A superconducting wire 35 and a strand of a stabilizing material 37 are wound together in a slot and closed loops of copper foil 43 are distributed in the winding at every three or four layers. The foil 43 is separated from the upper and the lower layers of the winding by an insulator composed of a glass fabric 41, and the conductive loop is formed so as to wrap the winding by putting part of the foil 43 upon another part of the foil 43 and welding the parts to each other. The number of the closed loops varies depending upon several factors, such as the area of a usable place, required quench protection, and cost. In addition, since the stabilizing material 37 is wound together with the wire 35, the peak limit and quench propagation are improved. Therefore, damages to the wire 35 can be prevented. |
