PURPOSE:To obtain a composite roll having excellent axial strength, wear and crack resistances by putting an intervention ferrite layer between both joint layers of a roll core stock and an outside layer. CONSTITUTION:As for a composite roll composing of a roll core stock 2 and an outside layer 1 joined on the peripheral surface of the stock 2, a ferrite layer 4 intervenes in the interface of the stock 2 and layer 1. The core stock 2 is made out of a low alloy steel whose at least one of tensile and bending strengths is higher than those of the layer 1 and the layer 1 is made out of one of Mo, W or V base high speed tool steels. Hence, a composite roll having excellent axial strength, wear and crack resistances is obtained because the firrite layer acts as a stress relaxation member. |
