PURPOSE:To produce efficiently a polymer having an arbitrary molecular weight distribution by using a continuous polymerization apparatus having a specific structure, supplying continuously a polymer precursor into a plurality of feed ports having distances to discharge ports different from each other, transferring it with stirring without back mixing, and removing the product continuously. CONSTITUTION:The title apparatus is a continuous polymerization apparatus 1 equipped with a stirring mechanism wherein agitating blades 5 are provided on a drive shaft parallel to the flow direction, and of an extruding flow system having a mixing ability in the radial direction but not in the flow direction. A polymer precursor is supplied continuously from a plurality of feed ports 2 provided in the flow direction, and is continuously transferred with stirring without back mixing toward a discharge port 3 provided at a rear part of the polymerization apparatus while being polymerized, and the polymerization product is continuously discharged from the port 3. According to the above process, the distribution of residence time of the polymer can be controlled, and a product can be produced which has an arbitrary molecular weight distribution.
