PURPOSE: To discriminate a specific object or zone which responds to exciting radiation by emitting luminescence. CONSTITUTION: While the grain 2 of an object to be sorted or gangue mineral is moved on a conveyor belt 1, X rays are projected across the belt 1 in the transversal direction from an X-ray device 3. When the grain 2 emits luminescence, the grain 2 is thrown out from the edge of the belt 1 along theα-αline and detected by means of optical equipment having a lens system 5 and a photomultiplier tube(PMT). The PMT 6 is connected to a microprocessor 8 which, in turn, is connected to an air jet driver 9 through an amplifier 7. The driver 9 blows off the grain 2 sorted by the miroprocessor 9 into a large sorting box. Therefore, a specific object or zone which responds to exciting radiation can be discriminated. |
