A heat exchanger for a gas turbine has a cross-counterflow heat exchanger which is mounted in the outlet diffuser and in which there are provided two annular manifolds which are recessed into the housing wall and arranged one above another, and a heat exchanger matrix which is curved in the shape of a U is arranged in an annular fashion inside the outlet diffuser. The result of this is that a high degree of exchange is achieved in conjunction with a compact design and simple assembly.
