Reflecting air cushion

In order to render phototherapy for treatment of newborn babies suffering from neonatal jaundice more effective by increasing the effectively irradiated skin surface with light having specific wavelengths, the children are supported on a reflecting air cushion, so that the light radiation incident from above also irradiates the underside and the sides of the newborn baby by reflection. The inflatable air cushion is characterised, in particular, in that the only materials used are plastic films which are suitable for longer than just temporary contact with the human body. Moreover, the transparent upper film possesses a particularly high transparency for the wavelengths employed in phototherapy.
