Closure caps for plastic-coated steel pipes

The invention relates to closure caps with in each case a cap body formed by a cap bottom and a collar externally surrounding the latter, for steel pipes coated with thermoplastic material. To protect against soiling and corrosion of the pipe inner surface, the said closure caps grip with prestressing by their collar around the outside of the pipe ends. In order to improve conventional pipe closure caps in such a way that the cost of production is reduced, it is proposed that the cap body (1, 1a, 1b, 2) is formed by a composite material of a layered structure which has a base layer (5) of cellulose which is impregnated with plastic and covered on both sides by in each case a layer (4, 6) of this plastic. <IMAGE>
