A description is given of a die try-out press having a lower framework on which a first, essentially planar press plate is fastened and on which a second essentially planar press plate, which can move hydraulically along at least one member, is retained. In order that the die try-out press can be set up, in particular in low workshop areas, and mounting, checking and machining of the die halves on the extended press plates can take place without damage by other components, it is provided that the second press plate is guided along at least two horizontally extending members, and that each press plate exhibits, in front of its end side, in each case one die supporting plate which is suspended on the press plate such that it can pivot about a vertical axis.
