PURPOSE:To obtain material uniformly dispersing metallic Cr by an ease operation with no expensive metallic Cr by melting magnesia and chrome ore, by reducing the chrome ore with carbon to produce a specified amt. of metallic Cr, solidifying and crushing. CONSTITUTION:MgO and chrome ore are blended in a fixed ratio and molten in an electric furnace with carbon electrodes under non-oxidative atmosphere obtd. by sealing N2. At the time, the chrome ore is reacted with the carbon as electrodes to produce 1-20wt.% metallic Cr by reducing a part of the chrome ore. Thereby, fused magnesite-chrome uniformly dispersing a suitable amt. of fine metallic Cr, is obtd. without adding expensive metallic Cr and carrying out the crushing of metallic Cr having high hardness and the kneading for uniform dispersion. The amt. of produced metallic Cr can be controlled by adjusting the blending ratio of chrome ore, the amt. of carbon in a melting bath, the atmosphere in the furnace, the operation temp., etc. |
