PURPOSE:To apply a printing to the vicinity a paper leading end part and to the vicinity of a paper trailing end part by a method wherein a gap between a guide late and a photosensitive drum is enlarged before the paper leading end reaches a feed roller and reduced after it has reached the feed roller, and a paper release mechanism is mounted on the vicinity of the photosensitive drum. CONSTITUTION:When a top page of paper 5 is loaded on a tractor 21, the tractor 21 feeds the paper 5 leftwards. At this time, a guide plate 6 is held so as to be spaced a gap (d) of 0.8-1.2mm from a photosensitive drum 1. The top page 24 with a toner image transferred is released from the photosensitive drum 1 by a release corotron 13 after passing through the guide plate 6. Data only for a page the writing of which has already been started on the photosensitive drum 1 after the leading end of the top page 24 passes through a sensor 25 is all transferred on the paper 5. After the completion of transferring, the printing action is stopped once. At this time, the paper 5 comes to a stop, and the guide plate 6 is retracted to the lowest position and held with a gap (d) of 3-4mm.
