PURPOSE:To obtain the title nonmagnetic material having wear characteristics and a coefft. of thermal expansion comparable to those of a metallic magnetic material and undergoing no sticking phenomenon from a magnetic tape by using MnO and MO2 (M is one or more among Ti, Zr and Hf) in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:The title material is composed of 65-90mol% MnO and 10-35mol% MO2 (M is one or more among Ti, Zr and Hf).
