The subject matter of the invention is a press fitting for producing a non-releasable, sealed connection of pipes. In order to be suitable for producing a connection for an internal pressure of greater than 16 bar has preferably for commercially available pipes with an external diameter of more than 54 mm, it is characterised according to the invention by the combination of the following features: a) the obliquely running, rectilinear portion (15) of the end (2) designed in a bead-like manner has an inclination (16) with respect to the horizontal in a range from 37 to 43 degrees, b) the diameter (7) of the opening (6) at the respective end (4) is at least 1.2 mm greater than the internal diameter of the cylindrically designed region (3), c) the ratio of cord diameter (17) of the non-deformed sealing ring (14) to the internal diameter (8) of the cylindrically designed region (3) is at least 0.1, and the internal diameter (20) of the non-deformed, torus-forming sealing ring (14) is at least equal to or greater than the internal diameter (8) of the cylindrically designed region (3). <IMAGE>
