In order to connect the individual lengths (3) of rubbish chutes, use has been made, up until now, of load-bearing chains which exhibited in each case a carbine hook and a fastening eyelet at their free ends. Consequently, the production of the load-bearing chains is complicated and expensive. By using a chain-coupling element having an upper, open retaining eyelet (7), for receiving a free chain link (9) of the upper chain, and a lower hook finger (8) for receiving the free chain link (11) of a lower chain, which is fastened in the upper region on the wall (2) of the length (3) of the chute, the load-bearing chains can be designed as simple chain pieces. The opening width (13) of the retaining eyelet (7) is of a smaller dimension than the chain-link thickness, with the result that the free chain link (9) is secured after having been inserted. A securing clip (4), subjected to prestressing, secures the lower chain link (11) against falling out unintentionally. <IMAGE>
