The invention relates to a method for mixing air streams in air-handling systems and to the construction of a mixing chamber for carrying out the method. In this method, the subsidiary-air quantity to be mixed into the main-air quantity is divided up into air jet sections which are introduced into the main-air quantity approximately tangentially to the outer edge thereof. For this purpose, the main-air quantity flows through a tubular duct arranged in a housing, in which case the subsidiary-air quantity flows around the tubular duct perpendicularly to the flow direction of the main-air quantity and flows into the tubular duct through inflow slots formed in its duct shell. By forming a spiral swirling flow of all the air, the subsidiary air is mixed into the main air.
