PURPOSE:To stably and surely execute a recording from the head data of a recording area just after a changeover by holding the output lights of a semiconductor laser at first to a third light power values, optical pulse modulating a second light power value to the bottom value of an optical pulse waveform and optical pulse-modulating a third light power value to the peak value of the optical pulse waveform. CONSTITUTION:DC light emitting power, the bottom value of the optical pulse waveform and the light power value corresponding to the peak value at the time of reproducing are set by a power servo system in a light power servo section 16. Next, respective light power values set in light power holding sections 13 and 15 are sample-held. In such a manner, in order to regenerate, record and erase the signal of an optical disk, respective light power values to be held are used. Further, at the time of reproducing a prepit part [indicated at (a)] in erasing or recording the signal to each recording area successively in order to stably execute the recoding and erasing from the head recording data just after the changeover from the time of reproducing to the time of recording and erasing, the DC light emitting power at the tie of reproducing is made to correspond to the bottom value or peak value corresponding to the erased condition of the optical pulse waveform. |
