PURPOSE:To surely carry a magnetic developer to the vicinity of a developer carrying roll by varying a temperature and bringing a pressure member consisting of a shape memory material to shape recovery, when it is detected by a developer detecting means that there is no developer in an adjacent part of the developer carrying roll. CONSTITUTION:When it is detected that there is no magnetic developer in an adjacent part of a developer carrying roll 2 of a storage container 1, pressure members 11a, 11b are brought to shape recovery by heating or cooling. Accordingly, an extruding member 10 is moved and the magnetic developer is carried. Subsequently, when the magnetic developer of a sufficient quantity is carried to the vicinity of the developer carrying roll 2, heating or cooling for the pressure member is stopped, and the shape recovery action of the pressure members 11a, 11b is released. As a result, carrying force of the magnetic developer toward the vicinity of the developer carrying roll 2 annihilates, and a supply to the developer carrying roll 2 is executed in a state that no surplus force is applied to the magnetic developer. In such a way, a shape of the storage container can be set comparatively freely, and also, the magnetic developer can be carried surely to the vicinity of the developer carrying roll. |
