The measuring screw of a transmitter having linear displacement has a guide (1) with a cylindrical bore (2), in which a measuring rod (3) is mounted in rolling-contact (anti-friction) bearings (4). Flats (10) are executed on a side face of the measuring rod (3). Inserted between the surface of the bore (2) in the guide (1) and the surface of each flat (10) is a ball (9) which limits a rotary movement of the measuring rod (3) about the axis thereof if an accidental effect arises which tends to rotate the measuring rod (3). <IMAGE>
