摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the subject roving giving a cloth having high strength and good resin-impregnation property by inserting overlapped end parts of glass fiber bundles into a channel having a circular cross-section, opening the end part with compressed air, bonding with each other and aligning plural bundles in such a manner as to stagger the bonded parts. CONSTITUTION:The end parts of two glass fiber bundles 1, 2 are overlapped and inserted into a channel 6 having circular cross-section and provided with a slit 5 for the insertion of glass fiber bundle. Compressed air is blasted into the channel 6 through an air nozzle 7 perpendicular to the channel to open the end parts of the glass fiber bundles 1, 2 and mix the glass fibers constituting the glass fiber bundles to bond the glass fiber bundles. The obtained bonded glass fiber bundle is free from twist at the middle part 4 of the bonded part 3 and is twisted in opposite directions at the bonded parts 3 on both sides of the middle part 4. Plurality of the bonded glass fiber bundles are aligned in such a manner as to stagger the bonded part in the direction of length to obtain the objective roving.
