<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of offset at the time of fixing by identifying the type of developer used by a developing means and controlling the set temperature of a thermal fixing means on standby according to the identified type of developer. CONSTITUTION:In response to the action of a means 2 identifying the developer T provided on the developing means 1, an identification signal generating means 3 supplies a developer identification signal to a control means 7. On receiving the developer identification signal, the control means 7 selects a standby temperature suitable for the developer identification signal among plural predetermined standby temperatures, and supplies a signal to instruct the thermal fixing means 20 to energize and interrupt a heat generating member 6 to the thermal fixing means 20, so that the temperature of the thermal fixing means 20 on standby reaches the selected one. Thus, the occurrence of offset at the time of fixing can be prevented.</p> |
