<p>PURPOSE: To minimize effects of non-uniformity of a seam area of a fabric by needling a fibrous batt material to at least one side of a specific woven single-layer base fabric having a first and a second ends mutually connected with the seam. CONSTITUTION: This apparatus for producing paper board is capable of elongating loops 52 and 54 formed at each end of a base fabric to the terminal end of the fabric, defining the thickness S in the maximum vertical direction of the loops with the loops wrapping around a joining wire 50, needling the batt material 44 in a tensioned condition to the base fabric, maintaining stuffer yarns 57 and the loops 52 and 54 in their positions, cutting the batt, material 44 along the seam, removing the joining wire 50, installing the fabric in an open condition onto the apparatus for producing the paper board and inserting a pintle yarn, or the like, through the intermeshing loops 52 and 54 at two ends. The base fabric has an open area of 14-25% and a weight of 1.2 to 1.6 ounces per square foot. A papermaking fabric has a water permeability of 80-110 CFM and a weight of 2.8-3.6 ounces per square foot.</p> |
