ORGANIC NONLINEAR OPTICAL THIN FILM ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To improve the nonlinear optical effect by using a Langmuir-Blodgett film consisting of a specific material formed of an org. nonlinear optical material. CONSTITUTION:A long chain alkyl side chain is introduced into 2-amino-6- nitronaphthalene having large nonlinear sensitivity as the org. nonlinear optical material to obtain the 6-nitro-2-naphthylalkylamine expressed by the formula I. In the formula, n is integer of >=14. The org. nonlinear optical thin film is constituted by using the films of this material accumulated by a Langmuir- Blodgett process. The good Langmuir-Blodgett film is formed in this way and the good org. nonlinear optical effect is exhibited.
