There is described a lift for moving a wheelchair over a staircase. The lift differs from conventional wheelchair stairlifts in that the lift is hydraulically operated. The lift includes a piston, a piston rod and cylinder-mount-ed over one of two guide rails. The cylinder is connected through suitable hosing to a hydraulic pump. A platform is supported by the guide rails and includes a control mechanism which operates the hydraulic pump. The piston rod is connected through a cable to the platform. A control cable parallels the support cable and runs from the platform to the hydraulic pump. This stairlift eliminates the need for a motor, gears and cable drum located beneath the staircase or on the platform.
|
