PURPOSE: To provide a socket terminal which is designed for densification through the provision of an insulating housing having a plurality of holes to which an electric terminal having a base including a pin insertion part and a tail part extending over its face for supporting a printed circuit board. CONSTITUTION: An electric socket 2 used for connecting a pin grid array to a printed circuit board has a pin insertion part 32 extending downward from a band part 34 arranged near its top face 16 for supporting a printed circuit board. The pin insertion part 32 totally contracts inward as approaching the printed circuit board-support face 16, and includes elastic contact arms 38 of which free ends are to be inserted into holes formed in an insulating housing. That arrangement allows the socket terminal to be used for a high density array while reducing the force required for inserting its pin grid array to the utmost. |
