PURPOSE:To improve the balance between sensitivity and sharpness of a silver halide photographic sensitive material by arranging each transmittance of a base body, base body+packing layer, and a silver halide photographic sensitive material, for specified wavelength to satisfy respective specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:In the title silver halide photographic sensitive material, a base body is formed by constituting a white polyester base body or a layer contg. a white pigment on a base body at a side having a silver halide emulsion layer, and the transmittance of the base body, base body+packing layer, and the silver halide photographic sensitive material, for light having 450nm, 550nm, and 700nm wavelength, satisfies the conditions expressed by the formula I, respectively. In the formula I, each T0700, T0550, and T0450 is transmittance of the base body for the light having 700, 550, and 450nm wavelength, respectively; each TA700, TA550, and TA450 is transmittance of the base body+packing layer for the light having 700, 550, and 450nm wavelength; each TB700, TB550, and TB450 is transmittance of the silver halide photographic sensitive material for the light having 700, 550, and 450nm wavelength, respectively. Thus, a photosensitive material having high picture density and sharpness suitable for both reflected light and transmitted light, is obtd.
