This joining device is of the type in which a sliding plate 13 for covering the junction zone is connected to the lower element of the espagnolette by means of a stud 12 which also makes the connection of the rod 4a to the headpiece 2 and the shank of which passes through a slot 14 in the headpiece and a slot 10 in the rod. According to the present addition, the stud 12 comprises, in its part seated in the slot 14 of the headpiece, a cylindrical bearing surface 30 provided with two flats 32 capable of cooperating with the side walls of the slot 14 in order to guide in translational movement and immobilise in rotational movement the plate 13 which is riveted to the free end of the part 12b of the stud projecting beyond this bearing surface 30.
