<p>PURPOSE:To improve the operating efficiency of the device for preventing air pollution by incorporating a rare gas such as gaseous argon into a gas such as waste combustion gas and decomposing or forming the gas by corona discharge. CONSTITUTION:Hollow electrodes 1, 2 consist of a metal such as stainless steel and the exhaust gas of a diesel engine or a combustion gas 4 from a boiler, etc., into which gas the rare gas such as gaseous argon 5 is incorporated via the hollow parts is introduced into a container 3 consisting of an insulator. A high voltage is then impressed between the hollow electrodes 1 and 3 to generate coronas 7, 8 near the electrodes. Harmful materials such as NOx, SO2 and CO are decomposed or formed by the corona discharge and the cleaned exhaust gas is discharged from an outlet 6. The operating efficiency of the device for preventing air pollution is enhanced in this way.</p> |
