<p>PURPOSE: To separate air by means of pressure swing adsorption by arranging a first flow restrictor means at the downstream of a pressure regulator and a second flow restrictor means in a bypass conduit. CONSTITUTION: Since pressure in an adsorption bed 14 communicated with a compressor 4 is higher than that in an adsorption bed 12 at the time of starting, nonadsorpted gas of high nitrogen content in the adsorption bed 14 flows to the adsorption bed 12 and a nitrogen product is continuously taken out of a reservoir 32. When pressure at adsorption beds 12, 14 becomes almost equal, a controller 60 closes valves 54, 56 and opens valves 12, 22, 48 to flow compressed air from the compressor 4 to the adsorption bed 12. When pressure reaches the value to open the back pressure regulator 28, the nitrogen product flows to the reservoir 32. The more pressure drop before and behind the first flow restrictor 30, the more amount of impurities in the nitrogen product flowing to the reservoir 32 increases. Sizes of the flow restrictors 30, 38 are made so that the nitrogen product supplied to the reservoir 32 has a specific purity and rate when the pressure regulator 28 is opened and pressure in the reservoir 32 reaches a prescribed value.</p> |
