<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate a fear of breaking a recording and to effectively use a recording medium until its end by comparing a residual amt. of the recording medium with a specified recording time and changing a mode if the residual amt. is insufficient and performing the recording accordingly. CONSTITUTION:The calculation and discrimination are carried out in size about data of the residual amt. of a magnetic tape 2 from a residual amt. calculating circuit 8 and data of the recording time from a timer controller 10b by an arithmetic processing circuit 15 in the recorder. A mode changeover command output is impressed from this circuit 15 to a sequence controller 10a, and a standard SP/long time LP mode changeover signal is sent by the controller 10a to a servo circuit 7 according to the command output. Then, the residual amt. of the recording medium and the specific recording time are compared by the processing circuit 15, and when the residual amt. is insufficient, the SP/LP mode change is made by controlling of an operation control circuit 10 to perform the recording under the changed mode, so that the fear of breaking the recording is eliminated, and the recording medium is effectively used until its end.</p> |
