A videotelephone is to be constructed in such a manner that the video camera can be taken out and used in a freely movable manner in order to provide additional possibilities of picture transmission. The video camera is accommodated in a special housing of the videotelephone set in a predetermined position in such a manner that it can be easily taken out. It can be connected to the videotelephone set either via a cable or cordlessly. The freely movable video camera can be used for transmitting objects and representations pictorially even if they are not located in the vicinity of the videotelephone set. Outside pictures (view from the window) are also possible.
