An aluminium electrolytic capacitor is produced from wound strips of two layers of aluminium foil. An oxide layer forms a dielectric on one foil and the foils are sepd. by a spacer layer of material that is impregnated with the operating electrolytic fluid. The foils have rivetted or welded connections to provide electrical terminals. The connections are covered by fine particle carrying electrolytic material. The material can be silica, Al(OH)3 or cellulose fibres.
