Device to protect against accidental pricks in the handling of hypodermic needles or the like. It divides the space immediately around the case or container into two complementary subspaces and successfully isolates the mouth of the case or container in one of them (upper subspace), the remainder thereof being located in the lower subspace. Protective plate which is rigid or flexible, compact or impermeable, with a circular, elliptical or polygonal shape, adjustable by means of an aperture which can be adapted to the inlet eyes of any type of cases and containers for hypodermic needles or the like. It has a guard which externally surrounds and encloses the limits of the body of the plate. It is complemented by its use as an identifier, data sorter and display unit.
