Retaining apparatus for climbing ropes

In a retaining apparatus (1) for climbing ropes, rope slings, loops or the like, which can be fixed in cracks in the rock, consisting of two or more eccentric discs (13, 14, 15, 16) arranged in parallel planes and extending in an offset manner relative to each other, each of which is mounted on a shaft (12) attached to a supporting rod (11) and capable of being pivoted by means of a tension member (18) against the force of a spring (17) into a position of low eccentricity, at least one of the eccentric discs is designed as a double eccentric disc (15, 16). As a result of this design, migration of the retaining apparatus (1) into a crack or out of a crack is substantially and reliably avoided. Moreover, handling when placing the retaining apparatus (1) is facilitated, since this automatically centres itself in a crack. <IMAGE>
