For surfacing submarines, hereinafter called vehicle, the acquisition of acoustic signals in the water by buoys which radiate these signals with the aid of radio waves leads to the need for detecting the presence of such buoys. A transponder according to the invention makes it possible to evaluate radio signals on a vehicle beyond the radio horizon. The system is characterised by the fact that there is a transponder transport system (5) which transports the transponder (1) on a trajectory pointing upwards essentially perpendicularly to the vehicle (9) and the transponder (1) consists of a receiving system for radio signals (6) and the signal at the output of the receiving system (10) is supplied to a signal processor (7) in which the signal is suitably converted at the output of the receiving system (10) and the processor output signal (11) of which is converted into a transmitting signal (3) in the transmitting system (8) and is radiated there, and on the vehicle (9) there is a vehicle receiving device (4) in which the radio signals are evaluated and the transponder (1) is designed to be as small as possible geometrically. <IMAGE>
