PURPOSE:To preheat filaments when discharge lamps are started and reduce their wear and tear by arranging filament windings on a balancer and feeding an unbalanced current to the balancer at the initial stage when a power source is turned on. CONSTITUTION:Filament windings nf6, nf7 and nf8 feeding the preheating current to filaments of discharge lamps FL2 and FL3 are arranged on a balancer BL, and an unbalanced current feeding means TD feeding the unbalanced current to the balancer BL at the initial stage when a power source is turned on is provided. The filaments of the lamps FL2 and FL3 are sufficiently preheated by the induced voltages Vf6, Vf7 and Vf8 of the windings nf6, nf7 and nf8 at the time of a start, and the wear and tear of the filaments can be reduced. |
