Method for the enzymatic preparation of optically active amino acids

Method for the racemization of an amino acid amide having the general formula: <IMAGE> where R represents an alkyl or aryl group which may or may not be substituted, and where the amino acid amide is brought into contact with a biocatalyst having amino acid amide racemase activity. The invention further relates to the enzymatic preparation of optically active amino acids from amino acid amides by bringing the amino acid amide into contact with a bicatalyst which also has L- or D- amino peptidase activity.
