PURPOSE:To reduce deformation of the medium due to moisture absorption, to increase the surface hardness and to protect the recording layer for a long period by providing a protective layer on a transparent inorganic glass film in one side where no recording layer is formed. CONSTITUTION:The recording medium has a transparent plastic substrate, the optical recording layer formed thereon and the transparent film of inorganic glass provided on the other side of the substrate where no recording layer is formed. The transparent protective layer comprising photosetting resin, etc., is provided on the glass film. The transparent glass layer is 100-3,000Angstrom thick. Thereby, deformation due to moisture absorption or stress and hardness can be improved, which prevents deterioration of the disk caused by environments. The obtained medium is stable for a long period. |
