PURPOSE:To obtain high reflectivity and high contrast allowing certain changes in film thickness without specifying materials of layers in the medium by providing layers composed of F and C on a substrate to form the recording layer consisting of a reflecting layer and an absorbing layer. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer which consists of the light-reflecting layer and the light-absorbing layer is formed in the layer composed of F and C. Informations are recorded by irradiating the recording layer with a laser beam to deform each layer. By absorption of light by the light-absorbing layer, temperature of the recording layer increases, which causes melting of the reflecting and absorbing layers at a same time. Then pits or bubbles are enlarged by surface tension, and thus, recording is performed. The optical recording medium has 15-80% reflectivity and 10-85% transmissivity of the reflecting layer for the wavelength to be used and >=15% absorption of the light-absorbing layer. The light passes through the substrate and irradiates the recording layer. |
