PURPOSE:To prevent engine stall by accelerating at least one out of the closing speed of a throttle valve, the opening speed of the throttle valve and the engaging speed of an automatic clutch depending on the inclination of roads when each step of gear shifting of a synchronously intermeshing type stepped transmission is switched. CONSTITUTION:When a control device 16 shifts a synchronously intermeshing type stepped transmission 14, the output of an engine 10 is lowered with a throttle valve 80 closed, then plural steps of gear shifting are automatically switched with an automatic clutch 12 released. After switch-over has been made, the throttle valve 80 is opened so as to engage the automatic clutch 12 so that power is transmitted again. In this case, at least one out of the closing speed of the throttle valve 80 at the time of lowering engine output, the opening speed of the throttle valve at the time of transmitting power again and the engaging speed of the automatic clutch is much more accelerated as the inclination of roads detected by an inclination sensor 62 becomes greater. This constitution can thereby effectively prevent an reduction in speed and engine stall at the time of automatic shifting. |
