PURPOSE:To obtain an image pickup device whose convenience for use is improved by controlling a diaphragm, the shutter speed of an image pickup means, and the gain of a variable gain amplifying circuit based on the signal level of the output signal or the input signal of the variable gain amplifying circuit. CONSTITUTION:A solid-state image pickup element 22, a driving circuit 21, and a sampling and holding circuit 5 constitute the image pickup means which outputs an image pickup signal. An A/D converting circuit 24, an integrating circuit 25, and a control circuit 26 constitute the control means which controls a diaphragm 2, the shutter speed of the image pickup means, and the gain of a variable gain amplifying circuit 23 based on the signal level of the output signal outputted from the circuit 23. The diaphragm 2, the gain of the circuit 23, and the electric charge storage time of the element 22 are controlled based on the output signal of the circuit 23 to perform the control with the control means of one system. Consequently, functions of the automatic adjusting mode, the diaphragm priority mode, the shutter speed priority mode, etc., are obtained on demand to obtain an image pickup device 20 whose convenience for use is improved. |
