PURPOSE:To enhance wear resistance of a printed matter by transferring an image onto a recording sheet by using a thermal recorder and a thermal transfer material which comprises on a base film a heat-fusible ink layer containing an ionizing radiation-curable resin or which comprises an intermediate layer containing the ionizing radiation-curable resin, and irradiating the transferred image with an ionizing radiation. CONSTITUTION:A heat-fusible ink layer 12 comprising an ionizing radiation-curable resin is provided on a base film 11, or an intermediate layer 13 comprising the ionizing radiation-curable resin is provided between the base film 11 and the ink layer 12. By using this thermal transfer material 10, recording is conducted on a recording sheet by a thermal recorder, and an ink thus transferred onto the recording sheet is irradiated with an ionizing radiation by an irradiation device for emitting the ionizing radiation, to harden the ionizing radiation-curable resin contained in the ink or in the intermediate layer. The ionizing radiation-curable resin may be a glycol diacrylate (or dimethacrylate), an acrylate (or methacrylate) of a hydroxy-terminated oligoester, a polymerizable unsaturated prepolymer or the like, of which preferred are those being solid at room temperature, showing fluidity at a transferring temperature and having a melting point of about 40 to 90 deg.C. |
