PURPOSE:To remarkably increase the utilization of an active material by forming positive and negative active materials in the shape of square or circle on each current collector, and stacking positive and negative plates through an electrolyte retainers together with an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A positive current collector 2 made of a lead sheet is bonded on a resin film 1, and positive active materials 4 are arranged in specified form by screen printing, then spaces between active materials 4 are coated with silica gel containing an electrolyte serving as an electrolyte retainer 3 by the same screen printing to form a positive plate. The positive plate is stacked on a negative plate formed by the same process with a glass fiber nonwoven fabric serving as the retainer 3 interposed, and the circumferences of films 1, 1' are heat-bonded so as to form a melt-bonding part 6 and a battery is sealed. Diffusion and supply of an electrolyte are made from all directions, and the utilization of the active material is remarkably increased. The amount of active material is reduced and weight energy density is increased. In addition, long life and automated manufacture can be expected. |
