The present invention relates to a process for purifying an ester containing at least one catalyst, characterised in that it comprises the following successive stages: -a) the said ester is washed with water, -b) a phase containing the said ester is then recovered, after phase separation, -c) the said phase containing the ester is optionally washed with water and, after phase separation, a phase containing the ester is recovered, -d) the phase containing the ester and originating from stage b) or from stage c) is passed over at least one ion exchange resin. The traces of alcohol and of water which are present in the ester may then be optionally evaporated off or alcohol may be added to this ester. Thus purified, the ester may form part of a composition capable of being employed as a fuel for replacing gas oil in diesel engines. |
