PURPOSE:To accurately track an object to be tracked without giving any restriction to the object by discriminating the moving direction of the object to be tracked from the range finding information of plural range finding means. CONSTITUTION:The 1st and 2nd range finders 1 and 2 are set on a turntable 3 so that their range finding optical axes can be separated from each other by about 20cm and can becomes parallel with each other. The spot light formed by projected rays of light l1 and l4 on an object 5 to be tracked when the rays of light hit the object 5 is received through light receiving optical axes l2 and l3 and the distance information to the object 5 is found based on the angles respectively formed by the l1 and l2 and by the l3 and l4. The two pieces of range finding information D1 and D2 are inputted to a discrimination circuit 35 and the rotation of a motor 4 is controlled. The tracking operation is continued until the information D1 becomes the same as the information D2 (D1=D2). Therefore, the object to be tracked can be tracked accurately without giving any restriction to the object. |
