PURPOSE: To enhance thermal and mechanical stress by supporting catalytic components consisting essentially of unitary and/or plural catalytically active noble metals and/or a base metal on a substrate to form the catalyst. CONSTITUTION: The catalytic component consisting essentially unitary and/or plural catalytically active noble metals and/or the base metal are supported on the substrate and are calcined to obtain an unitary composite structure having the catalytic activity. As a more specific example of the base metal catalyst, chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, or the like are exemplified. As a more specific example of the noble metal catalyst, iridium, osmium, palladium, platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, silver, or the like are exemplified. Further, as the base body, iron, manganese, nickel, copper, titanium, or the like are exemplified. |
